What a great afternoon we had at Blackburn Symphony Orchestra’s Strings Open Day.
Some lovely music including Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous Serenade for Strings, some delightful pieces by Martin Ellerby and to finish a sassy strings arrangement of Irving Berlin’s Cheek to Cheek. It was great to have Maestro Richard Howarth swap his baton for his fiddle and to lead by example, we watched and we learned. Thank you Richard!
As if that wasn’t enough Gill very kindly put on a tasty spread of nibbles and a few of the players generously brought homemade cake…what’s not to like!
The consensus seems to be “please may we have some more”.
